    Introducing Coach Sarah Flynn! Sarah has been a member of MP CrossFit since September 2015. During these past nine years, she has had numerous accomplishments and, like all athletes, some setbacks. But where she has shined is in her will and determination to always get better, fitter, faster, and stronger with intentionality, focus, and intelligent caution. She is an excellent example of all-around life fitness to emulate!

    At the end of 2020, Sarah wanted to literally buy into the life of MP CrossFit, partnering with one of the hardest-headed owners in CrossFit. 😊 She has been a great owner, coach, partner, and friend. Congratulations are always due to your many efforts in helping control the lives of our MP family! You are Ape Strong! And a great leader to the Ape Nation family!

    Here is some information for all of you to get to know Coach Sarah better!

    1. What is your favorite thing about MP CrossFit and why?

    Hands down, our community! We have an amazing group of people who come together from many different backgrounds in total support of one another. They support each other’s successes and understand each other’s challenges. We call ourselves a family for this reason…the unconditional support and respect for each other. There is something powerful about battling through a challenging workout together that has a unique ability to foster this community, and I think that is one of the most powerful tools in CrossFit.

    2. If you could give one piece of advice to anyone considering starting CrossFit, what would it be?

    CrossFit is for EVERYONE! Unfortunately, many people see CrossFit Games athletes on TV and social media and believe that is the majority in CrossFit. The truth is that there is a tiny fraction of CrossFit athletes, and most people who do CrossFit are just like you and want to live a fitter and healthier life. Because CrossFit is scalable to everyone’s abilities, it is for all ages, shapes, and sizes. When you come into a CrossFit gym, be prepared to be challenged, but also be prepared to be supported and coached every step along the way.

    3. How does your background in teaching help you as a Coach?

    Working as a teacher helped me see how students learn at different paces and with various teaching tools. Coaching IS teaching, so as a coach, I constantly learn and adapt to the athletes around me. I always try to use other cues for different athletes and remember that some athletes may learn more easily through visual, verbal, or tactile cues. As a middle school teacher, I thrived in the silliness and energy of the classroom, so as a CrossFit coach, I feel comfortable coaching in large and busy classes at the gym.

    4. What do you consider your biggest accomplishment in your CrossFit journey?

    I started CrossFit 9 years ago in 2015 and have been blessed with many wonderful memories and accomplishments. One of my favorite accomplishments was when I was finally able to do the “Dominating Starts Now” WOD as prescribed. I worked for seven years before I was able to do all those movements prescribed, and it was an amazing accomplishment to be able to do that!

    5. What is your favorite WOD to coach?

    I love coaching snatches and anything gymnastics! These technical movements can sometimes take athletes a long time to acquire, so the satisfaction they get from increasing their snatch weight or developing a new gymnastics skill is contagious!
