    Help us give a big shoutout to our Athlete Spotlight this month — Rye Donohue!  Although Rye began his CrossFit journey at another gym, we are incredibly grateful he has found his home here at MP CrossFit. His positivity, consistency, and support for others make him a true bright spot in our community. Rye shows up 5–6 days a week, always ready to work hard and lift others up. We’re so happy to have him with us! Congratulations, Rye—we’re so glad to have you at MP! See you in the gym soon! We asked Rye the following questions so that you could get to know him better.

    1. When did you start your CrossFit journey, and what inspired you to pursue it?

    A few years back, I just wanted to add more intensity to my training. I also needed some serious cardio help. Wait, I probably still need serious cardio help haha.

    2. What is your favorite thing about MP CrossFit and why?

    People usually say the community and that is definitely true here. But what really sets MP apart is the programming and attention to detail. Everything is built around smart progression and tracking. You will get fitter and stronger. And honestly, seeing how fit and dedicated the seasoned athletes at MP are in their 50s, 60s, 70s, and even 80s is inspiring. That is the kind of long-term health I am aiming for.

    3. You are a principal at a school. If you could give one piece of fitness advice to the younger generation, what would it be?

    They’re probably tired of hearing this from me, but how you do one thing is how you do everything. Set goals and work toward them. Consistency over time is what leads to progress.

    4. What is your favorite CrossFit WOD? Least favorite?

    Favorite WOD: Linda. Least favorite: anything with thrusters and burpees.

    5. You have just become a father for the first time! Congratulations! How has becoming a father changed your “why” when you walk into the gym?

    Thank you! Being a dad has made everything feel more purposeful. I want to stay healthy, strong, and uninjured so I can show up well for my daughter and my wife.
